Scientists think it's all numbers, some religious people think it's all about the father of a man named Jesus.
Personally, I think in a sort of Hegelian, thesis vs anti-thesis, way they're all right about it's character, to an extent.
It's like trying to memorize the morning mist. By the time you've come up with an image based on your experiences, much of the mist you were familiar with has already disappeared.

I doubt one can truly understand and master their knowledge of the pure essence of life force.
But we can sort of have a general feel about it.

we already did, viral life is plodding alone all over the place, and they just declared it non-life so they didn't have to refine the definition because effort is hard. normal eukaryote cells aren't even individual life forms, there are 2-3 different DNA-carrying organisms within them that have completely separate means of DNA replication.
