hawk/dove analogy is best here, it will bring it into true context. 8 doves, 2 hawks, balance. why that number truly though is a mystery but I suspect it's something baked into the math of cellular lifeforms themselves, something about the chemistry of life has this little 8:2 dance step baked into it.
