Can some one please answer what would happen in this scenario thank you:

>You do a double slit in an enclosed box firing photons at regular intervals. You put detectors on either slot that record on a paper if a photon went through it and the time. So you should be able to tell which photon went through which slot and produce a two slot pattern on the film. When you open the box that's what you should see according to the classic double slit. But what if before you open the box you push a button that ignites the papers, thoroughly destroying the information. Then what will you see interference pattern or 2 slot? If it's interference how did that huge macro scale object change itself? It was supposed to be 2 slits up until you pushed the button.

Reason I'm asking is because I'm see posts on here, stackexchange reddit and what not that seem to indicate that the dcqe is overhyped by pop sci thing and you only recover interference pattern with a quasi parlortrick with coincidence counters and filtering and there's not really anything strange about it. If you do this experiment in a brute force caveman manner like I proposed above this what would happen? Because it would either seem to prove nonhuman observers collapsing wave functions (if 2 slot with destroyed detector info) or macro scale objects changing state somehow depending on what you decide to do.
