Is CS & Math double major the ultimate chad move?

On a serious note, I'm starting college next semester for a science-related degree. My main interests are CS/EE, Math and Physics. After looking a the curriculum for these degrees I'm more inclined towards CS & Math (I'm a IPhO silver medalist and have already self-learned most of the Physics syllabus. Moreover I don't see myself going into Academia in the future, except maybe for AI/Robotics-oriented research).

Any advise/opinions for an undecided fellow /sci/ fag?

Physics+CS has served me extremely well. I'm EE now

I'd suggest go physics, because physics is all about model building, while math is all about being abstract. I know lots of physicists that get into technical things quickly, and talented mathematicians that struggle with technical things because they never had to apply their math to anything.

Physics is great prep for any scientific/technical path, even if your ultimate job isn't being a physicists. It's the jack of all trades of the sciences

No need for math/physics.
I dual majored math/physics and I went to graduate school for Computational Science and Engineering. I work in robotics design and engineering is the dominant field with cs being a second.

How was it? Currently doing BSc in physics and I'm interested in doing a master's in computational science. Not sure about the engineering aspect though, but I'm afraid that I won't find a good job otherwise.

The downside is that you don't delve into theoretical CS or pure maths. That being said due to the nature of the degree itself your masters thesis/project will be highly relevant to employers. You focus on advanced algorithm analysis, high performance computing, clustered networks. and computational modeling and simulations. You'll also be required to learn an animation package like openGL to create visuals.

How the fuck do you double major? In my country you get something called a joint degree, but only half the credits come from each subject so the employment prospects aren't the best.

Most majors here are 100 credits but 20-30 of those are electives. On top of this you have overlapping classes. A physics major has to take chem and a chem major has to take physics. Both take calculus etc

Yeah, in my college about 20% of credits are 'free electives'. Add that on top of overlapping classes and you are like 1 semester short of the second degree (obviously depends on their similarity tho)

Wat. Even when you're doing pure math, you're constantly applying what you learn to incredibly technical situations. Part of the reason you study things like analysis and topology is because of the large amount of technical and problem-specific details. If you think that physics and math have a fundamentally different extent to "technical details," you legitimately do not know what you're talking about.
The whole point of the math degree is being able to deal with technical details with ease and rigor. Unless you're one of those dudes who thinks higher math is just calculus but more 'abstract.'

it really depends, since I see a lot of motion planning and robotics papers from the CS side more these days since there's already a large body of literature on the associated control systems

I'd say it also heavily depends on what college you go to. The physics department at my college is absolutely shit, so make sure you check what you're getting yourself into at your specific college.

That's what I'm planning on doing. It's really the most in demand thing I think. CS basically guarantees you to get a job, unlike any other scientific pursuit. Throw in math, and you've basically opened as many good doors as possible.

Not exactly. You get a lot of overlap between the jobs for those two degrees save stuff that is protected by the EE degree. With math and CS, you have way more to talk about when it comes to solving problems for the interviews that everyone wants to pass.
That, and I've still seen one of my CS/math friends go onto avionics only 2 years into his career.
