Any consensus on Kittel for thermal physics? It's my currently assigned textbook for class.
If I'm being honest, I've only read ~20 pages so far, since my prof provides typed lecture notes, but I'm planning on reading everything we've covered by our midterm next week. So far it seems like an enjoyable books. It isn't as comfy as Griffith's, the reading is very curt, but also has high clarity. Looking through the table of contents for some other undergrad stat mech books like Reif I'm seeing that the order in which topics are covered seems to vary quite a bit, which is somewhat concerning. Big downside is that there are only ~10 problems per chapter.
