A virus differs incredibly from cancer and dementia and heart problems are not medicine's problem because we have a solution for that, people just don't apply it and would rather live a sedentary paired with transfats and smoking.
Cancer is impossible to cure as a whole, it's a generalized term for a certain situation in the cell cycle that can be induced by a million of pathways. It will probably never be fully cured.
Dementia is the aggregation of wrongly folded proteins in the brains "interspace", many many reasons could lead to that aswell, best cure until now is low sugar(and proper fats) diet and lots of exercise.
