>>12200197The Human Genome Project stemmed out of Cold Spring Harbor's Eugenics Records Office set up by Carnegie et al in the early 1900's. After WW2 and with the advancement of genetic research, the public perception of eugenics had soured, so it was rebranded as the Human Genome Project. It's essentilaly still a eugenics program, alongside all of the genetic research done under the guise of chronic diseases, cancer, developmental and degenerative issues, etc. Alongside services like ancestry, 23andme, and blood samples taken from all infants at birth, the database to facilitate a future large scale and highly organized eugenics program has continued to advance. Long term implications unknown.
