Spoopy Subjects of Study

No.12198952 ViewReplyOriginalReport
In light of the approaching spooky season I wanted to make this post here on /sci/.

I'm a physics graduate and, like any person I've had somewhat of an interest in the paranormal. As scientists we often lay the foundations of knowledge based on theorems, experimentation and (ideally) a rigurous formalization that describes a model of a particular subject of study. As we all know, anecdotal evidence means jack shit since it seldom leads to something that can be recreated in a controlled environment.

There's one question that's rarely made clear and has barely been given an answer to.
>Is there anything sentient and articulate here on earth that we can't see but has an impact on us?

Call it what you'd like, a god, demons, ghosts, stallin's invisible cock but maybe theres something's out there, waiting to be measured, maybe we will someday think of an ideal experiment that could open up a black box of REAL physical fenomena and legitimate knowledge, none of that gypsy bullshit that takes sciency words and sticks them in front of what ever the fuck it is they're trying to sell to make it sound mystical but rather new valid concepts like some kind of X field or maybe something to do with some obscure concept we haven't payed much attention to.

What's your take on this? Do you think the paranormal is measureable?
