the primary ash zone would not be as incredibly hot, but would still get a significant layer of ash
again, depending on the wind there would be inches of ash on either coast
while people would likely survive if they weren't caught outside and had some way to not breathe silica/ash during the 2-3 weeks of the ash coming down crops and plants in general would be devastated and the entire food chain would be massively fucked beyond recognition
the speculation of the world climate changing to further fuck things seems pretty likely too
basically unless world governments spend a few billion on either some harebrained scheme to preemptively cool/limit the eruption or we see things coming far enough in advance to prepare with shelters, food/water, and breathing equipment
