>>12198609Hey bro please read and respond. I want to uni right after high school for CS and flunked out my junior year (crippling anxiety prevented me from attending class plus substance abuse issues). Started working, I’ve made decent progress at my company. Started as a seasonal laborer, got put in full tune and spent three years in labor department. When I reached the ceiling the transferred me to a different department, now I do horticulture (irrigation, chemical/fertilizer application, scouting for pests/disess, and generally manage the crops.) I have health + retirement + 2 wk paid vacation + 2 bonuses a year 2wks pay each. Annual performance based raises, anywhere from 2-15%, year was 11% but was my first year in growing department hence my first performance based raise. Get my next one in a week, expecting maybe 8%. I made $33,000 last year, and editing $35,000 this year and to be put on salary when my hourly rate hits a certain level (currently $15.75/hr, might go up to $16.50 next week). In central BC that’s not terrible, not great.
I want to go back to uni, graduate, and work in tech but I’m 28 and feel like I’m too old, by the time I graduate I’ll be 31 or 32 assuming I went back next spring which is unlikely.
Tell me your story and experiences, what’s it like applying And interviewing at that age?
Please read and respond bro I feel like I could have a real productive dialogue with you. Thanks in advance.
