I feel so bad. Everything is crashing to the ground. How badly is a person punished for this stuff?

I cannot overstate how normal this is. It would be amazed if anyone who ever created a database of any complexity made no mistakes. Just fix it and move on. Try your best to check your work also because it obviously looks better i you're the one to find your mistakes.

You're an undergrad. You're expected to make mistakes. If it makes you feel better I made a mistake in my undergrad research last week. I was comparing different normalization techniques for deep learning with a specific network, and used the initialized number of channels for the normalization, even though the network updates the number of channels every iteration. So the test accuracy was bad and we couldn't figure out why it wasn't working til my supervisor saw my code and reminded me that our number of channels changes.

I remember when my girlfriend at the time aspirated her cells by accident for the first time. It's a mistake that all biologists eventually will do, happened to me too. She cried all night, thinking she was going to be fired from the lab. But nothing came of it, and any other mistake afterwards. There's no need for the tears, all you need to do now is to test through all the code, and do the best because there is nothing else to do. Sip a monster and push through the week, it will get much better down the road (4 years).

Report your errors as soon as you can. And try to come up with solutions to those errors.

If they act like retards and try to pin it on you, just so your best and leave the department once your BsC is over.

in govt run institutes the situation is far worse. Professors give exam copies to their fellow researchers and pocket the money themselves. Incompetent and under performing professors fill the vacancies under quota system and are a complete burden on exchequers.

Now, I am a designer, so I can't relate one hundred procent. But usually, whenever we find a mistake, or our expected hypothesis (like target group, or product) turns out to be dead wrong it's always waaaay better to document it. And figure out why we were wrong in the first place. Is it our mistake? is it the interviews we did that was wrong? did we influence answers? that sorta' stuff. That also always makes for a better product in the end.
