>>12201232I have green eyes. Largely Northern European and Irish heritage, some Basque/Spanish and French, English, and a bit of Native American. Probably also some Polish or other Eurasian / Russian heritage.
I'm thinking that at for least the grain component, melanin is required in the iris stroma. My father had blue eyes and had the trails, flashes of light, and what he described as a pulsing strobing sort of light in the dark, as well as tinnitus, but no grain component and no prominent negative afterimages. His mother, who developed it in her 80's, had green eyes, and she had the grain which she described as being like thousands of tiny holes moving around on the walls.
I'm not sure when I developed it, but for a long time when I woke up I would see 3 yellow-brownish sort of sparking "electric" lines propagate across my whole visual field, from right to left, every 3 seconds or so. Very orderly and predictable speed and timing. Lastly, if I get very tired the grain will become rainbow colored, and will seem like waves in some sort of thin sheet of liquid (but on the surface, eg a wall). In the sky I'll see something like pic related, morphing and rotating, only if the snow is particularly bad at the time though.
Yeah, no idea how to solve it anyway. I've found it to be highly responsive to diet or other environmental conditions, but only in the sense that it presentation is somewhat augmented by them. It is never really reduced or eliminated.
