Arent solids more packed than liquid gas or plasma?
Why dont we make a solid where the packs of Deuterim to some other metal is in such a formation that ionizing the D causes the scattering to have high probability of hitting another D and so fusion almost-cain reaction should happen?

Yes solids are more packed but the nuclei are still nowhere near touching.
Only way to give nuclei a decent chance to touch is give them lots of energy, which melts everything.

Like, instead of trying to confine a plasma you just have a solid which is already confined. Once you give it lots of energy, when it begins melting we can calculate the scattering and probabilities of fusion.

Melting fusion.

Then just inject a new solid pellet or solid material for next fun.

In order to cause fusion, you need at least 2 protons and 4 neutrons.

It could be a Hydrogen + tritum (Hydrogen with 3 neutron)
Or it could just be 4 Hydrogen atoms
Either way, once they were fused, the process would result into Helium (2 protons 2 neutrons) and the other elements get expelled out. Those are what causes the heat from fusion.

That is fine and dandy for light elements but the heavier the element becomes, the higher the binding energy, the less neutron and proton it expels. In fact, after Silicon-14, the ratio between neutron and proton is no longer proportional and it starts needing more neutron to keep the atom stable.

Once it reaches Iron, it's over.
It can still fuse but it would no longer expel a single neutron. However, the binding energy would also start decreasing and the heavy elements start becoming alpha radioactive. Once it reaches the level of Thorium and Uranium, the binding energy is now so low that splitting them would expel neutron in a process we call Nuclear Fission. You can technically split any element but at that stage, you can split them at a self-sustaining manner.

The idea is not to fuse the solid metal atoms, but use the metal say palladium to bind many Deuteriums. Then cause Deuterium to scatter off and hit another deuterium when the structure of the material causes high probability of hitting another D when being ionized or scattered off. Now thats a chain reaction within the material as it melts while the palladium gets bombarded with neutrons and who cares what happens with it then. Heat should be released to turn a turbine.

Think of like glass material, it is solid like a metal yet it scatters light in such a way to be translucent.

Why cant we make a material, once massively irradiated by gamma rays, starts melting and fusing in the process of becoming a plasma?

Yeah, that's where you failed. Hard.
Deuterium is a very rare and unstable element. And the amount that you want is not just huge, the process you are also speaking off is not self-sustaining at all

Congratulations, your process of bombarding 2 deuterium managed to fused them together but the process have costed more than what it produced and unlike Fission, it did not result into a chain reaction and just straight up caused the other atoms to expand, and cool down.

In fission, you only need to refine enough U-235. 20% is enough for a powerplant and 90% is enough for a bomb
We have no idea how to make a self-sustaining process for a fusion reaction. Except thermonuclear process which is unsuitable for industrial use

Fusing them is not hard but fusing them in a self-sustaining and controllable manner is insane.

Basically, find a metal which holds Ds in such a formation that their scattering from energetic beam causes them to hit other Ds thus fusing. Releasing a neutron in the process or some Helium/Alpha particle. Now, the metal the D are binded to, be hit by the neutrons causing fission - which causes more fusion of the Ds.

So this process would not be just pure fusion, but fusion-fission process.

Fission energy relies chain reactions done in a continues and stable manner. Once it gets depleted, further reactions become very unstable and unpredictable, causing serious damage.

And you intend to do both fusion and fission in the same reactor?
