I'm coming close to the end of my physics bachelor and I have to pick an area of interest for my masters.
Almost no one ends up doing what they thought they would at the start of their degree. I've made myself kind of like a mathematician along the way in the sense that I can prove shit with epsilon/delta and took an interest in learning the concept of entropy as rigurously described by dynamical systems.
I really enjoy statistical physics/thermo but I think I'd be wasting my life, no one goes into physics thinking they'll be the next Boltzmann. I also took some classes in particle physics, introductory qft and weather dynamics, I really enjoyed those.
In the end I don't know where to steer my career towards, I just want to be moderately known while having the most fun, I already have a stable job at a bank so money is not an issue, my plan is to save up as much as I can and take sabbaticals doing actual research.
