Are there any triple of quadruple black hole systems out there, and if so, what are they called / how do they behave?

Does anyone have any articles? I'm not sure if it's just my geographical region, but I can't find anything on them in search results, though I'm sure they exist.

Not a physicist, but you could have 2 black holes in a pair orbiting a single black hole at a distance, or two different pairs of black holes orbiting their center of mass. I don't think we have detected a system like this though.

for most cases, there are not stable orbits of three or more (similarly massive) bodies. it's way more common for one to be ejected.
since binary black hole systems are already hard enough to find, these would be even worse

sure, but just think how those would form, and how unlikely it would be for it to form in that way instead of the many more unstable possibilities.

Probably. Many people consider systems like these as possible sources of gravitational wave events ovserved by LIGO. Similar 3-body systems are also thought about frequently for regular stars, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and even planets.
In general a 3- or 4-body system is not stable. However, if there is a scale separation, the system can be stable. For example, systems such as those depicted by >>12193901
could be stable depending on the ratio of orbit sizes and orbit eccentricities. The idea is that for each individual binary, the other objects are just a small pertrubation over time, whereas for the further away object, the binary might as well be a single object.

Not sure what level, you are at, but there is a vast literature on these systems. A key search term would be 'hierarchical', such as hierarchical triple/quadruple system. Here are a few:
