Why have academics have such a bad reputation of not being able to have a leash on the crazies in the fields? I'm not talking about very intelligent people that are just very eccentric or suffer from mental problems.

I'm talking about how they seem to attriced to or create crazy ideas with no biases in realities and kill people for it.

Aum Shinrykio for example was a doomsday cult that attracted mostly university professors and students.

Hell the bombers who attacked shibuya station, 2 had degrees in applied physics another with an honorary degree in applied physics and another with a degree in A.I.
Every communist revolutionary movement was started mostly by academics such as the Red Army Faction, the FLQ ( French Canadian), the weathe and the various new age religions that started in the 60s all started in universities.

John Money took a boy with a botched circumscion and tried to raise him as a girl. When the boy found out the truth, he succumbed to hard core drugs and killed himself.

And with the recent CRT thing where anything European or invented by Europeans is irredeemable evil. I cant but wonder why universities turned into such cesspits of insanity.


Why are academics have a hard time policing these weirdos?

These aren't just people eith a different opinion. They are trying to over throw the government and are probe to terrorism.
