I need to separate toluene (B.P. 110.6 C) and propyl butyrate (B.P. 143 C). BP difference of 32.4 C. Will a 200 mm fractionating column packed with raschig rings be able to separate them cleanly? Any advice on how fast I should distill? Is slower better?

I checked an azeotropes table. Toluene doesn't form azeotropes with esters.

Maybe but I think it's too short as a column.
Did you calculate the theorical plates?

It could work if you throw away the bottom like 4 or 5 times and redistill the light fraction each time.
Then check boiling point or instrumentally to see how pure the product is.
