>>12178494Not an engineer, my degree was in physics. My job title says physicist, but I'm really basically just a data scientist. All I do is code and perform analysis. Started about 2 months ago. Honestly, I hate it so far. I didn't think I would enjoy any job I took, but I do really hate this. I hate coding, I suck at it and don't much about it. My employer said they didn't care as long as I had a basic familiarity and was willing to learn, but because of Covid they have provided 0 training.
I get paid a really good salary for someone fresh out of college from a no-name tiny school with no internship and no research experience or anything ($70k), but I'm incredibly bored with nothing to do and also suicidally anxious. My mentor is leaving in the next few weeks or months and then I'll be completely adrift unable to do my job at all.
