>>12177541>better than [human] extinctionI dont get the venus shit. Is going from 260 PPM to 600 PPM CO2 enough to climb out of a false stability point and its going to fall to 40000 PPM? Earth existing for 1 point whatever billion years is decent evidence for it not being in a false stable point. Once india starves and russian methane thaws, wheres the rest of the exponential CO2 coming from?
Let's say it the temperature raises 8 degrees C. Theres still a ton of landmass that's still farmable, especially with gains in Canada and Russia. Humans can still exist, maybe at a lower population. Ocean expansion is only a problem for shoreline property owners, and while thats "big", its nothing compared to extinction. We can probably GMO corn and rice to be fine anyway.
>>12179119global biodiversity goes down, might be some more desert, but theres no way that a forest that gets plenty of rain and 2 degrees hotter is going to become a wasteland. There's still going to be a ton of green shit there
I haven't looked much, but I've never seen decent evidence for why there will be more droughts other than "deserts be hot". Can't hot air hold more humidity? Is there like conclusive fossil records that show a clear trend between rain/year and temperature?
A lot of the apocalypse shit is mixed in with "science is settled that Co2 increases global temperatures". Is there strong evidence for earth becoming venus? Increased temperature lowering rain/year?
