wasn't sure where to post this but I'll put it here because of neurology.
I'm sure everyone has heard the concept that what TV advertisers want to get a product they're advertising stuck in people's heads with sheer nuisance, as an explanation why some commercials are so annoying. It occurs to me there is a much simpler way of accomplishing this without actually getting the audience angry at you with ridiculous humor and potentially boycotting the product. Why not just have a serious commercial with background music that doesn't resolve, even remotely? Imagine you're watching a commercial and the piece in the background is the Introduction of Also Sprach Zarathustra and it ends on the third to last chord. That would be incredibly annoying. Now imagine doing this with a piece of music hardly anyone has heard or a new piece of music, the human minds watching it largely won't even have the vocabulary to fill in the blanks. Meanwhile you haven't just acted like annoying retards to get people thinking about the product.
