I don't think that's what he's talking about, I don't think chromatic aberration has anything to do with bright lights seemingly moving separately from their dimmer surroundings.

Chromatic aberration in the lens wouldn't cause relative movement of the numbers and the microwave, would it? You can observe what I'm talking about with a fairly sim indicator type LED in a dimly lit room, just either bob your head around or move the led with some dimmer backing at the same time, your eyes seem to respond to one of them moving before the other.

technically speaking that effect is caused by contrast, not by brightness. either way, glasses have nothing to do with it. the refraction of different wavelengths in the lens of the glasses is what causes the effect described in OP

anyone else notice this affect? when you cant see something when you look at it because of how your pupil moves when you move your eye? i only ever experience this at night, lying in the dark

Your retinas have two major different kinds of sensor cells: rods and cones. Cones give color vision, but require higher light levels to function. The highest density of sensor cells is located in a spot called the fovea, At that spot the cells are all cones. This gives the best color vision, and high spacial resolution, but doesn't do so well at low light levels.

That's due to there being more rod cells in your peripheral vision, enhancing low light vision, rather than your eye physically moving in space and seeing around the corner of an object.

Rods are the only ones to decent light intensity, cones can only do colour. Central retina has higher concentration of cones and lower rods, thus worse vision in the dark. Peripheral vision has high vision in the dark but is actually colourblind (greyscale)

I guess it has to do with cones and rods being set to different exposures (the exposure gets longer as it gets dimmer, it isn't only your pupil) but I don't see why it would happen.

Bullshit. Your eye does physically move, and it can let you see "around a corner" or whatever just a tiny bit more. Not saying it's practically useful or anything, but fun to experiment with.
