I am not interested in waiting for my species to be driven extinct by meteor or the expansion of the sun, or by heat death or whatever else the universe has in store. I would much prefer we make the effort to spread to more planets, to spread to nearby star systems, and to "hack" physics to get around problems to do with the death of the universe (in whatever form).
Civilisation is accursed in many ways, but it's simply a new environment to adapt to. Reject civilisation return to monke is perhaps somewhat good lifestyle advice, but it's not the ideal social situation.
