Given that gemstones likely exist on other planets and moons what kinds might be in greater abundance and how would the ones we know of form differently? Mercurian diamonds? Martian Emeralds? lunar sapphires? how would the different gravity Affect crystal formation ect . It seems to me that this could fund extra-terrestrial missions, gemstones as they are on earth are effectively worthless (industrial diamond excluded) their value is based entirely on sentimental value and coolness/prettiness, a small average 1ct diamond could be worth millions just because its from mars ect for no other reason than that.
