Businesses did used to include IQ & similar aptitude testing for employment & promotional purposes, but the Supreme Court case Griggs v. Duke Power Co. effectively banned the practice. Note that only applies to private businesses; the government has claimed sovereign immunity and still uses these tests in certain areas, like how the military has its ASVAP test to see what kind of training you qualify for.

Imagine giving an SAT exam to someone whose IQ tests high but has never been exposed to conventional language or math symbols
I'm guessing they'll do comparatively poor regardless of their high IQ

Some still do it, they just call it something else and score it differently
I took a test for a big bank application that was dead to rights progressive matrices, score was given in a percentile compared to other applicants
