Textbook studying is difficult because it's extremely boring and unengaging compared to pretty much any other method of learning.
Learning from another person or from a video is almost always going to be a more enjoyable experience, and thus hold your attention more.

Of course, as long as you can stay focused and power through textbooks are great and offer a lot of advantages.
