I think the issue is with mainly with personality disorders and anti depressants which is quite reasonable but for whatever reason, and there could be a lot, some people just write the entire field off. I've seen lots of dishonest arguments here in an attempt to discredit the entire science and I find myself struggling to understand the motives of someone who would do that.

I would say it's mostly that people here really dont know much about psychology, despite everyone here critising psych any time its brought up it's literally just people who have heard things from pop culture

Funnily enough modern psychologists dont even really believe in multiple personality disorders and psychiatry (prescribing drugs) is a different field to psychology it's more of medicine degree

main problem lies within institutions and subdisciplines being plauged by liberal politics. think social psychology, modern personality psychology etc. I think psychology works best when the brain and neurophysiology is considered first.

Also a psych major and I think the politics is overstated. There's definitely a problem with the left leaning politicizing psychology but it isn't nearly as bad as people claim
