I don't know. I just know that is a katydid, not really sure how to tell you why I know that. The legs look very different from that of a cricket or a grasshopper.

iirc grasshopper and cricket legs are roughly perpendicular to the body. while the katydid has legs that are sort of parallel or at acute angles to the body. also grasshoppers and crickets are kind of ugly. katydids look like killing machines and they often eat other insects

It's clearly a conehead katydid of some sort because of the prominent spike between its antennae

It's not the legs that make it look different. Grasshoppers have longer cigar shaped bodies while katydids have shorter tear dropped shaped bodies and the females have a large ovipositor.

Crickets are rad. Cute and overall chill fellows. I'm kinda phobic with bugs and get anxious even when seeing one but I don't mind crickets at all I can even hold them. I like the small brown ones the best. 8/10would recommend

I usually find some fucking cool spiders here too, tarantulas, orb weavers, etc.
On some occasions I find scorpions but those are much rarer than spiders.

Funny story:

>It's a fully grown tarantula, about 5 inches in diameter
>I carefully lifted my foot and let it drop into floor

Fuck that. I live in texas and once a year these fucking things swarm for a week in massive mounds of cricket gang bangs.
There are so many of them that you can smell the stink from them.
They will also crawl into the spot between your tires and the road when you park so enjoy having crickets laminated into the floor of your garage as well.
