Is there such a thing as fake journals and conferences where academics "publish" research and nobody checks? Because I think I've found one. Some of the academics at my university have publications that look like pure garbage and the conference where the publication was presented does not seem to exist. All the websites for it look fake, like someone made the website in 5 minutes and there is no worthwhile information on them (it's all very generic, links don't work, etc) or any images of a conference. There are dozens of conferences listed every year in different international locations, most of them outside of America and Europe.
