>Chaos theory is in itself sort of pop-sci>the origin of the term is from a sci-fi story about time travelI won't pretend to be an expert on chaos theory, but my god this buzz word brings out the pseuds.
IIRC chaos theory was 1st observed when trying to create computer models to predict the weather. Some guy ran a simulation and got 1 weather prediction. Then ran it again but accidentally left out a single decimal place in one of the initial conditions for the weather prediction. The amount he left out was small, insignificant, equal to about a butterfly flapping it's wings. When he ran the simulation it gave an wildly different weather prediction. Hence, his conclusion was a butterfly flapping it's wings in china can cause hurricanes in new york

>does chaos existYes. Literally every system with a feedback loop is a chaotic system, and those are everywhere and I really mean everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised is consciousness itself is an emergent property that is somehow derived from chaos.
