>>12146744I got diagnosed a couple years back, it fucking sucks doesn't it. Even having medication, it still seems to me that i'll just be a chronic underachiever for the rest of my life lmao. Even basic things like keeping a schedule drains so much willpower, it's like my IQ barely matters because I lack the drive to apply myself in the non-adhd social environment we call society.
All I can say is don't depend on your medication to fix you, because taking too much is literally a meth addiction and it completely fucks you up. You need to make sure all your diet, sleep, fitness, environment, and habits are optimised. You will need to avoid the internet like the plague because we get hooked on the internet, youtube, social media, porn, etc. insanely easily compared to the average person due to our lower dopamine levels. Instant gratification habits are a plague on our lifestyle.
Assuming you are doing what you can do optimize your lifestyle, use your medication. Just don't rely on your medication as a fix to your issues, because it isn't. It just helps you to put the lifestyle and habits together more easily. Keep adjusting your medication for a year to two years until you find the exact right substance and dose that is stably optimal for you. I probably changed mine 5-6 times, and it's way better finding the substance that fits best for your brain than being stuck on the first thing your doctor suggests for you.
