most infant cats die in the first week
so it makes little sense to evolve to like infant cats
but once a cat does make it past the week, then its life expectancy skyrockets
that's when it makes sense to start liking the cat because your affection and investment won't go to waste
humans that prioritized infant cats either went crazy from how many cats that they loved died off, and died off themselves do to the mental illness
Or, the human died out because of the misallocation of assets to cats that have a high risk of dying
early farming humans needed cats to keep mice and rats in check to keep their grain supply safe, else the humans would starve and die and not pass on their genes
thus, the humans (that have a farming lineage (whites/asians)) that have survived to this day are the ones who struck a balance between finding cats that are young cute because young cats need extra care to increase life expectancy, but not TOO young cats cute because then that investment would go to waste and harm the human's chances of passing on their genes.
