Is your entire existence based in your brain or is consciousness is it's own creature?

death is when you completely cease to exist. there is an upside though, because when you cease to exist, you are completely unconstrained from concepts like the passage of time. so, if a reality exists where at some point in the future your consciousness again coalesces, whether through a strange passing of time or time itself being a loop, you will immediately exist again in that form.

hmm interesting. So what do you make of people whose memory is short term where it resets every 20 minutes or so? What may their stream of consciousness feel like? It may be that you were unable to make memories until a certain point (can happen with psychoses where someone suddenly snaps back to baseline)

and I'll clarify that people immediately after a seizure will be conscious, not responding to stimuli, and will not have memory recall until about 15 minutes have passed. Perhaps the active state of a seizure simulates the sensation of death (I've heard this from a lot of patients and family members)

Your consciousness is directly tied to your brain. Once your brain stops functioning, you cease to exist. It's not all that bad, you have nothing to worry about at that point.

There have been an enormous amount of accounts from people who were clinically dead that tell a different story. Some of these people had no measurable brain activity, and were able to see and hear things they shouldn't have been able to.
Of course, it's possible that all the people who recount their near death experiences are either attention seekers or paid actors pushing a plan to keep public morale up and that death really is a complete cessation of existence, an eternal void of nothingness.

Do you have somewhere I can learn more? I've heard about these before but I never bothered to look into it. What is the consensus on such cases?
