STEM doesn’t teach critical thinking, it teaches formulas and rules

Humanities teaches critical analysis and thinking.

Critical thinking, writing, and the ability to articulate oneself is far more applicable to most career fields than knowing math and biology shit

If I were to become dictator of my country I would publicly behead all the commie humanities professors and ban all the bullshit degrees like gender studies, liberal arts, sociology, psychology etc. The humanities would be reduced to history, ultra right wing political science and philosophy. Ok, let me just quickly debunk this one boys.
Learning mathematics and science requires critical thinking, especially when you have to apply it. Interpreting your results from experiments also requires critical thinking, lots of it, to separate the bullshit. You also have to think critically during experiments and when operating machines for your own safety and the safety of others.
Writing and articulating yourself is extremely important in science and engineering as you have to communicate yourself effectively and explain concepts, sometimes difficult concepts, in a way that non-experts can understand. You also have to communicate effectively with others in your profession. There is nothing we don't dislike more than people who cannot write effectively. During my mechanical engineering undergrad, I wrote up about 12 labs and averaged about 32 pages for each one, and around 5000-10000 words each (not including the equations/maths). My final year project was 179 pages and about 50,000 words.

But the world isn’t set up that way anymore
Things are very specified and you end up contracting slot of stuff out because it’s just easier and cost effective

I’m lucky I work in a small 30 person shop, I regularly do everything involved in building and constructing parts for aviation application, from raw metal stock and sheet, all the way to paint and installation of electronic boards

Fucking brainlet. I did an internship at a large IB and even the econ majors that worked there said it was useless. Economics is not “the best of both worlds” it’s regurgitating theories that have no basis in reality with some very basic maths sprinkled in. Zero critical thinking and no axioms. It’s literally the dumbest subject you could take. Economics’s biggest contribution was Game Theory and even that came from outside the field.

Taking the bait.
All of STEM is critical thinking. Formulas are tools like a screwdriver, not magic fix things incantations. Novel problem solving requires knowing your tool, but getting to a good solution requires critical thinking. If you don't, your solution will not work. This is objectively measurable.
Humanities teaches how to bullshit well enough to fool others into believing you're using critical thinking. Success is subjective.

I have an English degree. I don't regret that. What I do regret is that I discovered late in the process how much I actually do like science. I would like to go back to school and pursue a STEM degree, but I've no time. I'm climbing the management ladder, and being "college educated" helps that because non-technical degrees are more like social class training than real intellectual development. The qualities/skills I need at work come down to being trust worthy, responsible, compused under pressure, ability to follow established protocol, adaptable to novel situations, general problem solving, ability to break a big task into smaller tasks, prioritize those tasks, and, frankly, babysit adults who never mentally progressed past middle school mentalities. Does college directly teach any of that? It does not. You have to embrace a certain set of extra-curriculars to get that taught indirectly, and most university students are too busy "discovering themselves" or buying into fringe politics. I wish I had the time to go back and get into a STEM field, but I'm stuck being a spectator of things I am interested in but only understand the general basics of. That is the frustrating part.
