>>12138542that's pretty easy, if you're a reasonably decent actor and have studied the illness you want to emulate. ideally, you'd study it from the perspective of someone with the illness as well as from the perspective of someone trying to diagnose it. you'd want to know how a psychiatrist makes those decisions, what they look for, and you'd also want to know how a person with that disorder acts and thinks. some disorders are tame enough that you can act exactly as you always do and just describe your symptoms, and boom, you're diagnosed.
i have bipolar disorder, but i don't act like a maniac. i told my psychiatrist that i thought i had it, described my experience, and was diagnosed and prescribed medication. it's really the fuckin wild west, out there.
