You don't even have to start until after 1950, since the total amount consumed prior to that is negligible and there aren't any records anyway.

The only two sources of carbon emissions you have to concern yourself with are barrels of oil and tons of coal. You don't need to concern yourself with efficiency.

You can determine the weight of the atmosphere by calculating the total weight from the amount of air pressure per square foot at 1 atmosphere of pressure, extrapolating the surface area of the earth from its diameter and circumference. (which has already been estimated)

Even ignoring the carbon cycle from organic plankton and vegetation, even confining the carbon dioxide to the lower layers of the atmosphere since it is heavier and more likely to settle closer to the ground, it is still so laughably negligible that I can only imagine a fool would still believe that man made emissions have any impact on the climate after being presented with this data.

The earth is VAST. It comforts us to both assume that we are even capable of affecting the earth climate, in the way a child might imagine taking responsibility for things far outside his control. After all, it stands to reason, if we caused it, then we can control it. It is very difficult for us to come to terms with how small and insignificant we are, and how little impact any of us, or indeed all of us, have on the environment.

The earth is an infinite expanse of wilderness, it stretches unbound for unfathomable distances in all directions, all of civilization is but a speck on its magnificent surface, points of light clinging to each other in the darkness of an untamed world.

Fear not for mother earth, for she was here before us, and she will remain long after we are gone.
