How do you feel about this landrush into a previously abandoned category of psychiatric medication after a series of paper from JHU and ICL showed potential for therapeutic use in PTSD?

it seemed to have surprising net positive effects on socializing children who had become mute, asocial/antisocial because of abuse or traumatic experience, but then that study was cut short and the conclusions of it don't really have enough merit or purchase. The whole microdosing fad a few years ago led to some "higher-ups" becoming more interested in psychedelics and somewhat alleviated the stigma. Then they found that psilocybin/psilocin could help with certain kinds of cluster headaches, and they also found it could help recovering alcoholics. at this point, neuroscientists were starting to get curious and new avenues for research that are just on the cusp of becoming popular is a very promising route for grant money. We've got great imaging techniques these days and can look at what's going on from a functional/mechanistic standpoint rather than just behaviorism i.e. "he stared at the blinking green light for an hour and a half and afterwards claimed that the light was a message from god sent in morse code" which is slightly interesting but ultimately useless. Plus, ethically it's less likely to cause issues than even weed, being addicted to psychedelics is extremely rare and typically only seen in individuals already exhibiting polydrug abuse, so you just make sure your sample isn't containing extant drug users (or if it does, make sure it's very specifically recovering addicts and drug test them, of course this would be within the context of "how does [LSD/etc] help recovering ____ users") and you shouldn't have any problems.

eh i would really doubt that, why would you bother taking the risk of bringing home controlled substances from a place you rely on for future career prospects when you can just go to literally any festival
