I've been reading and listening to Ben Goertzel.
He looks a little bit schizo but he is obviously gifted.
How can I get into AGI? I'm 19 and I feel like i'm starting in this field old. Should I try to interiorize a lot of papers related to the subject?
Should I jump in into programming immediatly?
I want to learn more about singularity.

It's probably one of the most complicated fields there is. The best minds on Earth really have very little idea where to even begin. Becoming very good at programming will help, but that's literally 0.0001% of what's needed.

It's probably going to come down to a lot of creativity, philosophy, and studying neuroscience. The goal is to eventually surpass the brain, but before we get there we should at least try to get on par, even just with a mouse or insect brain. If you deeply want to get into AGI, I think neuroscience would be a good choice.

Machine learning may or may not be a good choice. It's nothing remotely like AGI, but a future AGI may very well utilize or require machine learning as one of many components. And we might gain some insights into other paths by continuing to research ML.

So, take your pick, neuroscience research or ML research.
