Wilm your average person own a spaceship in the far future? Every family/community could own a basic thermal rocket powered by fusion since hydrogen is commonplace in the solar system. You'd never run out of energy.

Sure, it would be solitary existence but why wouldn't it our future? If space travel becomes commonplace then bigger population centers would be vulnerable, one mad man could kill millions.
