i have days in which i think that i'm somehow a genius because i seem to have an original world view

16 when I had to drop out of pre calculus because I had 40% in the class. Even more so at 17 when I dropped out of physics, 18 I failed chemistry.

Fuck my teachers though, I make over 120k running, operating and fixing heavy equipment in shitty conditions. Blue collar for life baby. I wouldn't say I'm dumb, I'm just really bad at math. I fully realize and understand I'm not 'smart' but again I'm not 'dumb'. Theres no DK effect here.

as a child
and as a teen I had already had an existential crisis

I'm not. People say I "sound smart" and most give me blank looks if I don't simplify what I'm saying about more complicated subjects.

I see obvious solutions to things most people just accept, e.g. vague long-term health issues or wasteful financial decisions.

I can get a general understanding of just about anything, and remember it permanently, after at most an hour of reading. I can finish most people's sentences (and do in my head) and generally understand complicated explanations or lectures before someone finishes speaking.

Never had my IQ tested but I studied on full-ride scholarships and run my own business now. Academia never interested me despite my teachers' and professors' encouraging it.

That said writing and reading makes me feel like an idiot because I always write using simple words. For instance I'm morr likely to use "short-lived" rather than ephemeral or something and I never do "famous person's name -ian" like Bismarkian, Lynchian, etc. I see a lot of that in texts and sometimes it makes me feel like a retard but it might just be because I am ESL or didnt go to college long enough to learn to write this way.

Or everybody else might just be tryhard faggots.

I look intelligent and learned to read at age five so i got good with words and speak three languages fluently but thats all the noggin is good for and it wont learn a new one now anyway. At about age 20 i realised a host of neural functions took the back seat in favour of verbalisation and im salty as shit about it.

I pass for a smart person very well though, outside of the more arrogant IQ140+ers who can see through the bullshut

Around 19 when I started my first year in EE. I had doubts on my intelligence beforehand but it was enough to pass the entrance exams although not in a way I'd hoped.

I'v come to understand that listening, remembering and then parroting words of smart people doesn't make me intelligent. I'm a mediocrity in all aspects and the difference between me and average person is that I'm marginally more interested in "smart" topics. It took a while to realize that and I still keep reminding myself about it. Just because I read more doesn't mean I'm smart.

Also, I just noticed I didn't learn things as fast or as well as others in uni. I have a shit GPA and regularly flunk tests. I'd love to delude myself that it's because my lack of studying but if I was intelligent I'd study more. If I was smart I'd retain the learned information better instead of forgetting it. If I wasn't stupid I'd know how to apply it instead remembering how to solve set pieces.

I got As in math before highschool, there they turned into Ds and in university Fs. I'm basically a year behind my peers at this point but quitting would be a death sentence.
