For me, the symbolic scenario in your head which is born out of sensory inputs doesn't qualify as imagination. There might be shared Qualias and what not, but having shared elements isn't the same as being the same thing.
A man isn't his brother just because they share the same parents, even if twins.
But returning to the first question: is the idea of an apple as real as an apple you can touch? Or is it imagination?
Is the mental projection in your mind what defines an object as imaginary?
Regardless of the answer, if the mind is what defines imagination then there must be something real for the mind even if we can ascertain the mind is always real.
We don't even need to enter into degrees of reality for this.
