Cyanide is not a cumulative poison, so unlike lead or mercury it is quickly metabolized and flushed from the body unless a critical lethal threshold is reached. It’s common in many plants so the body has no problem handling small to moderate amounts without any long term effects. Same is true for stuff like alcohol and carbon monoxide.

Exactly, I don't know if the "energy drink" stuff is real but I've consumed fruits containing cyanide (bitter almonds for example) and I'm fine, you do feel strange, I can't say if that's because your brain knows you're ingesting poison though.

I used to eat a couple apple seeds a day with the retarded belief that low level cyanide exposure could help me develop a tolerance to it. I haven't done that for a long time though - but in retrospect I did feel particularly good back then.
