3D fag here wanting to know mathematical foundations of 3D computing

I am a 3D artist who uses Zbrush and Maya.One thing that bothers me is, I feel kind of retarded for pretty much just being a tool picker. I read the documentation, I look at tutorials, I'm just a click and drag monkey. I want though, to understand the underlying mathematical principles. I've figured that the math behind 3D software pretty much comes down to vector calculus and implementations of newtonian physics. In that case, what kind of stuff should I learn in order to understand vector calculus? Please take in mind I only know high school math so, yeah, the farthest I know is basic calculus which I know is laughable so. Yeah. Tell me what books to read and the like.
