One teacher told me yawning is because of lack of oxygen to the brain. Which is a good of guess as anyone else's. And trying to listen to lectures... your brain is over exerted and needs oxygen.

The cracking the joints... you don't have an urge to crack your joints all the time... but when you do they pop because of the little bubbles being released. So when those bubbles are in your joints.. you feel a sort of stiffness.

The side stitches. Are because your upper torso is trying to stay up right and your lower body is trying to lean forward to run.. so your upper back muscles are stretching the opposite way of your lower body... and then side stitches.

The doms.. bot sure when it is. But have done 300 jump ropes and my back and muscles felt so stiff and sore... but the next day j still forced myself to do another 300... and then the soreness was just gone.. so maybe doms is the feeling you get after trying to re awaken your muscles out put.. but they still want to stay at rest. Newton's laws of motions.this is just an observational opinion. Not some godly correctness.

Yawning probably has multiple purposes, but one of them likely is the tuning of muscles, tendons and other mechanical structures, just like stretching. If it was mostly related to oxygen intake there would be no reason it wouldn't just be a really deep breath rather than a tensed inhalation.

There's pretty good confirmation what yawning is for. It's basically your brain telling the body for more cooler blood. Your fatty squishy brain is feeling too hot.

When you yawn a lot more cooler air streams into your mouth and it's cavities.

You yawn more before you go to bed because the brain is more active before sleep.

They did an experiment of giving people warm and cool hats. The ones with warm hats significantly yawned a lot more than those with cooling hats.

Recent paper showed that it's nerve related rather than muscles. I don't know if there's been followups yet since I haven't followed it but they had a plausible mechanism with good evidence.
Essentially microtears around the nerves, when inflammation occurs the tears open up and excite the tears, when you do the same exercise again it causes the muscles to swell back and stops the nerve excitation.
