What is /sci/ take on it? If life extension technology fails us, could we use it to escape death into the future?
Tissue architecture remains the same, so there is no actual loss of information. But I do think it would be easier to replace neurons one by one via reprogrammed stem cells than to repair cellular damage with some magic nanobots.

So in future it wouldn't be you, but robot done by cryogenic company. Maybe keeping the brain in state it wouldn't freeze so neurons could keep firing would help.

Why not just save your quantum state then recreate you when transporters/replicators are invented?

Not really sure what you mean. In the very near future they will probably use stem cell therapy for stuff like Parkinsons. Basically replacing your dying dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra with new ones. I am thinking that but on much larger scale. Its kind of like Ship of Theseus situation.
About freezing I think biochemical reactions slow down by a rate of 3x for 10 degrees of cooling. But even going below 20 celsius for longer times would be problematic so
you couldnt really get more than a few years that way if you were terminally ill.

That therapy was tried, but you need to form synapses over there, it's not just extracelluar dopamine level which makes you parkinson, it must be connected, and if you reconnect your synapses you are no longer you. You arent even that exact person you've been year ago and your synapses changed only naturallly.

There are 3 main stages where cryonics could fail. Consider the bathtub curve. Modern cryonics attempts to vitrify your tissues in the hope that future technology will be able to reverse the process. If your head gets run over by an ambulance backing up and not watching where its going there's nothing they can do when half your brain is between a tire and the pavement. If the intern shows up to work high and donks up the procedure you're dead. This is the beginning of the bathtub curve. The middle part is the long haul and has the least number of risk factors that would cause you to thaw out. The issue is the cross section of this low risk over time. The longer you have to wait the more risk there is something might happen. The third stage of revival, assuming they experimented on animals first and got the process down, is likely the least risky of the stages in terms of revival, but mostly depends on the assumption that the first stage was able to preserve your identity. Alternatively, the third stage may be viewed as the risk that the world turned into some dystopian nightmare and you were revived only to be digitized and tortured for a trillion years. That's pretty much worst case scenario though.
