>>12104903Sure. Problem is that distrust is a vicious circle. These people stockpiled because they didn't trust the state to secure the cleanliness of their assholes. Lying to them in reaction will now make them distrust the government more.
>>12104904Sure they do. The whole system functions on trust. Not only this system either : from kingdoms to democracies, all political systems are based on trust. How can a few hundred men rule over millions ? because the millions do what they're told. If people refused to pay taxes for example, if cops refused to work, if soldiers refused to go to war, the government couldn't do anything about it. To rule, they need people to go along with it; either out of trust that the government is good or right, or out of trust that other people will enforce their rule.
Africa gives lots of examples of low-trust societies, and if it wasn't for trustworthy swiss banks, they would not be very good for career politicians.
In the US politicians still garner a relatively high level of trust compared to africa, but it wasn't high enough for Hillary Clinton and the republican establishment and as a result you got Trump and a lot of issues.
