California has a fire fuel load deficit of about 200 million acres or so. These yearly mega-fires are not normal, they are the result of a cebtury of fire suppression policies.
This is not a healthy fire regime. It is certainly destroying habitat and threatening ecosystems.
And until most of California burns, you’re right that we can expect these catastrophes to continue.
