>>12099882>I went through this when I was like 8 or so.Same here.
Many years later I came across grown men , some in their 30's and 40's, who thought PM was real, some even went to the effort to build their dream PM machines. At first I thought these guys were just trolls, or perhaps philosophical eccentrics trying to make some esoteric point about the nature of knowledge. Then upon further discussion I discovered that no, they were quite serious. I then rationalized that these people had merely been deprived of a decent education. But in the course of discussion I learned that they were all either (a) incapable of understanding physics or (b) blocked anything contrary to their world view, often becoming upset and confrontational when presented with facts and evidence that ran contrary to their beliefs. I was deeply shocked, as many of them otherwise seemed quite rational, many were technically skilled in some way, and most were successful in their own lives, having jobs, families, social networks etc.
It was then I began my real journey of discovery, concluding that democracy had been a very bad idea.
