>>12098394global warming is absolutely real and an issue but in terms of mitigation it is only a serious issue in low lying coastal areas due to sea level rise and that is better treated as a localized threat. Ever since we cheated evolution with science like air conditioning and insulation for our shelters the weather effects of increased temperatures mean fuck all to us.
The global warming/climate change phenomenon also appeals to us as humans universally since the story of global warming is a modern day version of the religious doomsday prophecy, featured in some form in every culture since the beginning of recorded history. It's probably fair to say that the global warming alarmists are affected more by the religious quirk of the brain rather than true understanding of the science behind it.
Global warming has never been seriously mitigated by any country or entity simply because the threat isn't there. Local environmental issues such air pollution, toxic heavy metals, chemical pollutants and other various consequences of human development are much more effective at saving lives and more cost effective than any mitigation that involves reducing co2 emissions.
The few real consequences of global warming are almost entirely mitigated at a local level with moderate economic development. Netherlands is doing great with their flood control, the gulf arab nations can live normal lives thanks to air conditioning in an otherwise inhospitably hot environment and the expected increase of extreme weather events all across the world are predicted days in advance evacuated well before human lives are at risk.
Global warming is simply not a risk to anyone living in the developed world, it won't affect the modern day life style at all.
