How do you do it exactly? Simply speeding up the audio will start pushing the critical frequencies above the hearing threshold at that point, and even TTS starts glitching when played too fast.

I think the issue is mainly physical rather than your ability to comprehend fast audio. The shorter the sounds the less certain is the frequency spectrum of that sound and it will trigger a response from a larger area of your Cochlea in your ears. As you speed sounds up they resemble specific sounds less and become basically noise. This effect is counteracted by the increasing pitch shift of the sped-up audio but there are pretty hard limits on the frequency of the perceived sounds by the human ear.

I recorded myself reading Bee Movie script and 500% increase in speed is really pushing it. It's sorta recognizable if I change just the tempo without increasing the pitch but it's still pushing it. As you can see by speeding audio up you amplify all kinds of noise in the sound.

I build up to it. My brain can not tell the difference between 2x and normal speed.
The tool that I use is
Audacity
YouTube playback chrome add-on
And podcast addict for android.
All of these tools have a high quality conversion rate.

VLC
Mpv
Or any other media player can not convert high speed without a slight change in the pitch.

I can't remember any specific figures, but look into blind people using screen readers. They often crank up the speed very high.

Try speeding it up, then slow it back down, to check if the filter doesn't distort way too much

Your original speed is incredible fast, you mostly do 1.5 the speed when training.

than place it back to its original 5 times speed

But in the grand scheme of thing you won't save much time.
You can finish a 1 hour video in 12 minutes. 6 times will be 10.
