Oligos with high GC content have a higher melting temperature because of base stacking. The extra hydrogen bond might contribute a little bit but it’s not nearly as important as the base stacking.
To be fair this wasn’t really known to be the main reason until the 2000s, so it makes sense that the H bond misconception has endured
